At Lotus Blossom Hospice and Palliative Care, we believe excellent care goes beyond managing physical symptoms. When you choose us, you're choosing a complete team dedicated to your loved one's comfort and your family's well-being—at every stage of serious illness.
Hospice Care
Comfort, Dignity & Quality of Life
For individuals with a life expectancy of six months or less, when the focus shifts from curing to comforting.
Many families worry that choosing hospice means giving up hope. But research shows: patients who receive hospice care often live longer and experience significantly better quality of life because their symptoms are expertly managed and their families receive the support they need.
Hospice care isn't about giving up—it's about ensuring that every remaining day is as comfortable, meaningful, and peaceful as possible.
For most families, hospice care is fully covered with no out-of-pocket costs.
Our comprehensive hospice care includes everything your family needs:
-
24/7 skilled nursing, physician oversight, nurse practitioner visits, expert symptom management, all medications, and medical equipment delivered to your home.
-
Certified nursing assistants for bathing and grooming, plus respite care for family caregivers.
-
Chaplains and rabbi for spiritual care, licensed social workers for counseling and practical assistance, accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice (NIJH).
-
Help with paperwork (FMLA, veterans benefits, Medicaid), connection to community resources, coordination with private duty caregivers if needed, and complete family education.
-
Round-the-clock access to our clinical team who know your loved one.
Who Qualifies?
Generally, hospice is appropriate when a physician certifies life expectancy of six months or less, the focus shifts from curing to ensuring comfort, and curative treatments are no longer effective or desired.
Common qualifying conditions include advanced cancer, heart disease, COPD, kidney disease, dementia/Alzheimer's, ALS, liver disease, and stroke with complications.
Important: Qualifying doesn't mean your loved one is bedridden or has only days to live. Many families wait too long. When you call us, we'll help you understand eligibility with no pressure.
Palliative Care
Managing Symptoms While You Continue Treatment
For individuals with serious or chronic illness who aren't ready for hospice.
Palliative care is often misunderstood. It's not the same as hospice—it's a valuable service that can help at any stage of serious illness, even while your loved one is pursuing curative treatment.
Palliative care focuses on improving quality of life by managing difficult symptoms like pain, fatigue, shortness of breath, and nausea—while your loved one continues treatments like chemotherapy, dialysis, or other therapies.
Many people receive palliative care for months or even years while managing chronic illness. Some people's conditions improve with better symptom management. And for those whose illness progresses, palliative care can provide a smooth transition to hospice when the time is right.
Palliative care is covered under Medicare Part B.
Our palliative care services focus on improving quality of life while you pursue treatment:
-
Regular nursing visits, coordination with your doctors, relief from pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, and nausea.
-
Medication optimization, family education about disease management, and connection to community resources.
-
If your loved one's condition improves, we celebrate that progress. If their illness progresses and hospice becomes appropriate, we provide seamless transition with the same team you already know and trust.
Who Qualifies?
Palliative care is appropriate for anyone with serious illness—including cancer (any stage), heart disease, COPD, kidney disease, neurological conditions, or dementia—who wants better symptom management and quality of life.
You might benefit if your loved one continues treatment but has difficult symptoms, frequent hospitalizations are common, you need help coordinating complex care, or you're not ready for hospice but need more than standard home health.
Not Sure If You’re Ready?
We’re Still Here For You.
Sometimes families need time to process, understand options, and have difficult conversations before they're ready for formal services.
That's what Comfort Care Consultation is for.
This free service provides regular phone check-ins with a Lotus Blossom Hospice team member who can answer questions, help you understand what's happening, connect you to resources, support family conversations, and monitor for when hospice might become appropriate.
No commitment. No obligation. No cost. Many families use this for weeks or months before transitioning to hospice—and that's perfectly okay.
Bereavement Support
Grief Is A Journey We Walk With You
We understand that grief is a long journey. Our bereavement support includes counseling for 13 months after death, regular check-ins, our annual Celebration of Life ceremony, and connections to support groups.
This extended support helps families process grief, adjust to their new reality, and find peace.
We Honor Veterans
Managing Symptoms While You Continue Treatment
If your loved one served in the military, we provide specialized support through our We Honor Veterans program.
We coordinate all VA benefits, provide recognition ceremonies with certificates and hand-knitted lap blankets, understand military culture and service-related trauma, and partner with VA facilities throughout the region.
Veterans face unique end-of-life challenges. Our Level 4 recognition means we understand and can provide care that honors their service.

Understanding Comfort Care Coverage
One of the most common questions families ask is: "How much will this cost?"
The good news is that for most families, hospice and palliative care are fully covered with no out-of-pocket costs.
Hospice Care Coverage
Medicare Part A: Hospice is a Medicare Part A benefit, fully covered at 100% with no cost for:
All nursing and physician care
Medications related to the hospice diagnosis

Medicare Advantage Plans: Hospice is also fully covered under Medicare Advantage plans with no out-of-pocket costs.
Medicaid: Hospice is 100% covered by Georgia Medicaid with no cost to families.
Private Insurance: Most private insurance plans cover hospice services, typically at 100%. We'll verify your coverage and explain any potential costs before beginning services.

No Insurance? If your loved one doesn't have insurance coverage, please call us at (404) 975-3125. We work with families to ensure financial concerns don't prevent access to care.
Palliative Care Coverage
Medicare Part B: Palliative care visits are covered under Medicare Part B, similar to regular doctor visits. Small copays may apply depending on your specific coverage.
Private Insurance: Most insurance plans cover palliative care services. We'll verify your coverage and discuss any potential costs before beginning services.
